NASCAR Stats Explained
Here are the NASCSAR stats explained that I use from time to time. The Drivers Ration has even more explanation and is located on it’s own page. The rest of the stats are explained right here. I may expand on a couple of the stats in the future. And there are some other stats that I will probably be adding here.

Sum of driver position on each lap - divided by the laps run in the race.
Must have raced in 75 percent of scheduled point-paying races.
Closers
Positions improved in the last 10 percent of each race.
Driver Rating
Formula combining the following categories: Wins, Finishes, Top-15 Finishes, Average Running Position While on Lead Lap, Average Speed Under Green, Fastest Lap, Led Most Laps, Lead-Lap Finish. Maximum: 150 points per race. Must have raced in 75 percent of scheduled point-paying races.

Fastest Drivers Early In a Run
Ranks each driver during the first 25 percent of laps run since a pit stop.
Must have raced in 50 percent of scheduled point-paying races, in which driver finished within 5 laps of the winner.
Fastest Drivers Late In a Run
Ranks each driver during the last 25 percent of laps run since a pit stop.
Must have raced in 50 percent of scheduled point-paying races, in which driver finished within 5 laps of the winner.
Fastest Laps Run
Number of laps where driver had the fastest speed on the lap.
Fastest Drivers on Restarts
Ranks each driver on the speed of their first two laps under green conditions.
Green Flag Speed
Ranks each driver for green flag lap speed throughout the race.
Must have raced in 50 percent of scheduled point-paying races, in which driver finished within 5 laps of the winner.
Laps In Top 15
Number of laps that driver was within the top 15 drivers.
Laps Led
Number of laps the driver led.
Mile Leaders
Mileage of laps led.
Passes By Location
Percentage of passes for a driver on the straightaway vs. the percentage of passes in the turns.
Percentage of Laps Run On Lead Lap
Must have raced in 75 percent of scheduled point-paying races.
Quality Passes
Passing a car running in the Top 15 while under a green flag.
Fastest Speed In Traffic
Ranks each driver by speed when there is another car within one car length.
Passing Breakdowns
Passes Under Green Conditions
