Ryan Newman And Kasey Kahne Running Phoenix USAC Races
Buddy Shacklette – AHN Sports Reporter
Avondale, AZ (AHN) – NASCAR drivers Ryan Newman and Kasey Kahne don’t have to worry about The Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series title, so both drivers will moonlight in the USAC Series this weekend.
In a return to their Midwest open-wheel roots, both drivers will take turns in various rides throughout the Copper World Classic weekend.
Kasey Kahne, whose day job is wheeling the No. 9 Gillett Evernham Dodge, will drive in the Copper World Classic wheeling the No. 67x midget entry of Kasey Kahne Racing.
Newman will run in the 25-lap Midget feature in the No. 39 Esslinger Ford of 2008 NEMA Midget Championship team Bertrand Motorsports.
The Indiana native will finish the evening in the No. 192 Chevy in the 100-lap Silver Crown event.
Kahne currently sits 14th in the Cup standings while Newman, who is headed to Stewart Haas Racing next season in Cup, is in 16th in the standings.

I know this is a little off topic just thought id say it…. Newman is gonna run the truck series race at homestead next weekend in the number 2 truck like atlanta. And we all know what happened there….. Oh and its cool to hear he keeps going back to USAC thats where he had alot of success.
I can’t wait to see how he does in the truck series next weekend.
Hopefully a repeat but that would be awesome just to have a good finish.
Most people think he can’t driver (or at least is not one of the top ones), but man….give him good equipment and he can git r done!
I was at the USAC races on Thursday night. (As well as the cup race Sunday)…. It was fun. Wish Ryan wouldn’t have had the failure and could have finished, but it was great having yet another oppertunity to see him in action!!!!
Man your lucky! That was to unfortunate for Newman. Both cup race and USAC
If your interested write up a little something about your adventures at the USAC and Cup race and we’ll post here for you under out “Fan’s View”.
Did you see the “team work” after Tony stalled? That made me smile. We were sitting in turn 4, where all of the action seemed to be on Sunday. It was amazing….. I can tell you one thing, had it not have been for the track bar incident, Ryan would have had a great finish! He had an awesome car and drove the wheels off of it!!!!! After his finish, or lack there of in April…..it was a treat to watch him on Sunday!!!!
The USAC races were a lot of fun. My daughter is a Kasey Kahne fan so she had fun watching him. We sat in turn 1, and one minute he was running out front, and when they came back around he was no longer on the track!! LOL! But they interviewed him and you could hear in his voice just how much fun he was having out there. He said he wouldn’t miss any oppertunity to be out there. It is good to hear him excited again.
We watched Harvick’s win on Friday night, which was exciting as well. Hoping they can turn 3 into 4 next week! Ryan in the trucks is a fun thing to watch!
