Looks like Ryan Newman will be competing in the Vienna Sausage Southern Showdown at The Dirt Track at Lowe’s Motor Speedway which is currently scheduled for October 8, 2008.

The World of Outlaws Late Model Series event kicks off Bank of America 500 Week and features a unique format that could result in the winner of the 50-lap finale taking home $30,000.

Newman is slated to compete as a teammate to defending World of Outlaws Late Model Series champion Steve Francis. He will drive the No. 12 late model with sponsorship from Alltel and the Ryan Newman Foundation.

More than 50 of the biggest names in dirt late model racing are expected to join Newman for the Oct. 8 Armour Vienna Sausage Southern Showdown, including World of Outlaws series regulars Darrell Lanigan, Josh Richards, Shane Clanton, Chub Frank, Shannon Babb and Rick Eckert.

If purchased in advance, adult tickets for the Armour Vienna Sausage Southern Showdown presented by Ferris Commercial Mowers are $25 with children 12 and under admitted for just $5.

Reserved seats for this race are also available as part of the four-race $99 SUPER Ticket which includes Bojangles’ Pole Night on Thursday night, Oct. 9; the Dollar General 300 on Friday night, Oct. 10; and the Bank of America 500 on Saturday night, Oct. 11.

This will be a great opportunity to REALLY SEE Ryan race as the drivers are going topless that night. I know Humpy is no longer at Lowes but this has to be something he dreamed up and convinced the WoO-LMS to do.

Each dirt late model must compete without its fiberglass top, giving fans a better view of the drivers as they navigate the lightning-fast four-tenths of amile oval. That should make some real interesting views, and some pretty dirty drivers by the time the nights over.
