Looks like when Ryan Newman joins Stewart-HAAS Racing next year he will more than likely be driving the #39 car and not the #4 that was originally announced.

Tony Stewart made this announcement on his Sirius Satellite Radio show Monday night.

Stewart listed various reasons as to why. For starters the #39 is the number Newman that Newman first won with in the United States Auto Club midget race.

Also Stewart said that he wanted to leave the No. 4 available to its long-time carrier, Morgan-McClure Motorsports, should the team return to the Sprint Cup Series next year.

I think its cool. I personally think 39 is a better number then 4 and he has won in it in the NNS series.

I also think it was poor planning on the part of Tony Stewart and Joe Custer. They should have been aware that the number was not available in the first place, before they announced it.

I may be wrong, but the way I understand the whole thing is that the number is/was available so Tony filed for it.

It then sounds like Morgan-McClure then had a fit about it. I mean what do they expect when the number has not been used in over a year I think it is. Maybe even 2 years. I don’t think it was run last year at all.

So once they had a fit I think Tony backed down and said that is fine. Plus the 39 will be a good number for Newman. Should have a post out today about the #39 and the #14 numbers.

Im just anxious to hear what the sponsors will be… I m hoping they would be Bass Pro Shops and UPS but I doubt that now, it looks like Burger King is the front runner. When do you think we’ll hear something…

Bass Pro is still with Truex and DEI— Sounds like it will be UPS and Burger King….maybe some others for a multi sponsorship deal

I kinda want Burger King because i think Ryan and the burger king guy could make some pretty funny commercials….. as well as UPS…….

I am really sorry….but NO!. I will support Newman no matter what….but I do not want to see him in commercials with that CREEPY Burger King guy.

Something about Newman waking up in bed next to that creep just seems wrong.

And I have to say, I don’t think I like any of those commercials anyways.

The bad thing about the Burger King commercials. is that we are going to hear the fat jokes. Bass Pro Shops would fit no one else more than Ryan himself. And btw im not sure if they are in stone with the #1 next year, plus Tony has had them as a sponsor as well. I guess that we’ll just have to wait and see.
