Now It’s Jack Daniels, Ryan Newman and Stewart

Now here is a sponsor I could sink my teeth into……or at least wet my whistle with.

Jayski is reporting that Jack Daniels will be Newman’s sponsor over at Tony Stewart’s new HAAS/CNC Sprint Cup racing team.

Now, no matter what, I would support and be a fan of Newman’s no matter who his sponsor was or who’s team he was/is on. But lets face it, Jack Daniel is a “cooler” sponsor than Burger King. Especially when you consider the creepy Burger King commercials.

Below is quoted straight from the Jayski website.

Office Depot to Stewart UPDATE and Newman and Jack Daniels: been told that Office Depot will be the sponsor for Tony Stewart in 2009 when he drives for Haas CNC Racing which is will buy in to. Hearing the announcement of the buy and deal will be made in Indianapolis the week NASCAR is in Indy for the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard, July 27th.(7-3-2008)
UPDATE: Tony Stewart is expected to announce a 2009 move to Haas-CNC Racing at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in three weeks. Reliable sources tell Sirius Speedway that Stewart will also announce sponsorship from Office Depot and Old Spice as part of a new, multi-year package with Haas CNC, and that Penske Racing’s Ryan Newman will join him as a teammate, with sponsorship from Jack Daniels. That surprise move comes as the result of an enviable situation at Richard Childress Racing, which now has five potential sponsors for next season, and only four teams. Sirius Speedway has learned that UPS will move from Michael Waltrip Racing’s #44 Toyota to the quarterpanels of Clint Bowyer’s #07 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet in 2009, leaving Jack Daniels in search of a new driver. That driver will be #12-Ryan Newman, who is set to sign-on with Stewart at Haas CNC.(Sirius NASCAR Radio’s Sirius Speedway)(7-7-2008)

And on top of that, Jayski is also reporting that David Stremme or Casey Mears will be in the #12 Penske Dodge next year.

Below is quoted straight from the Jayski website.

Mears or Stremme to the #12? It appears to be a two-man race for Ryan Newman’s soon-to-be-vacant [#12] seat at Penske Racing, with Casey Mears and David Stremme in the running. Stremme is making a strong bid for the ride, doing yeoman work as Penske Racing’s test driver this season. In fact, Stremme’s name is being linked with as many as three different Cup openings next year.(Sirius NASCAR Radio’s Sirius Speedway)(7-7-2008)

I have to agree that Jack Daniels would be so much better than Burger King. Plus the car scheme would most likely look better. We’ll just have to wait for Newman to confirm all of this!

  2. jerzhedevil Says:

Newman’s car number could be 66 or 70 the current numbers of HAAS / CNC???

I agree that it would be much better than Burger King! I don’t care who it is as long as he gets a run for the championship soon!!! I am sure it will all be reveled soon!!! HOPEFULLY! I know that it is distracting.

I guarantee you that Ryan will get the #07. Not only is Jack Daniels going to want that number cause of the #07 on the bottles, but RCR can go back to having the #30 car. I think that everyone is bashing Ryan and Tony, but I know for a fact that Ryan and Tony wouldn’t have left their respected teams unless they knew that they would be championship contenders. It may not be next year but I think that this may be a good team.

I think it is a solid idea….. they both know what they are doing. Give them credit! Newman wants a shot at the championship and this is how he will get it. I have gotten used to the idea. Just have an awful lot of “blue” !

Read Nascar.com today—announcement to be made tomorrow regarding Stewart. Probably Newman too.

  8. Ryan Newman Fan Says:

Gerry - I have to agree that Tony and Ryan wouldn’t cook something up if they didn’t think it would work.

But that is no guarantee. Look at Waltrip…for example.

I don’t think they will have success next year. But My understanding is that Tony is going to go in there and gut the place. Then build it back up.

And if he model that team after his other businesses he will do great. He modeled his other race teams after JGR. He has a lot of respect for JGR.

So, eventually it will be a good team.

Thanks for the heads up kimmijo
