Ryan Newman’s Pit Crew Gets Honorary ESPN.com Member
First of all let me say congratulations to Trent Cherry. He announced on his blog today that he and his wife are pregnant. You can see his posting here.
Also if you did not know, Krissie’s Korner has a new edition. Krissie Newman talks about her and Ryan’s time off over the Easter weekend. Go HERE to read.
Now onto the ESPN.com writer that got to land a gig as an honorary member of Ryan Newman’s #12 Alltel Dodge pit crew. He got to be in the pits, work the tires, and hang out with the crew during during the Auto Club 500 in California.
I think he wrote a great and funny article about hanging out with the pit crew, Ryan, Krissie and the whole Penske Racing Alltel Dodge crew.
He starts off explaining how Trent Cherry told him that he needed to clean up and look a little more professional before hitting pit road. Trent explains that they represent a company that pays their bills and they need to represent them good.
Sam then goes on to explain that he had never been to a NASCAR race, never seen a car engine (I don’t know if he meant ANY car engine, or a NASCAR engine) and that he was NASCAR-illiterate.
He talks about how during the rain delay what the conversation in the trailer is about and what Krissie Newman’s thoughts are about those conversations.
Here is a quote of Ryan’s from the article in reference to a “bet” that was being made if Krissie could get him to loose weight.
“Do you have any idea how hard it is to eat like that and look like this?”
Anyway, I thought this was a great light hearted article that shed some light on how tight Newman’s pit crew is. I definitely recommend heading over there and reading it.
I have only scraped the surface of the article.
